Emma & Samuel // Burleigh Beach, Engagement Shoot

Emma & Samuel, who are getting married in my home town of The Yarra Valley, have me booked to photograph their wedding in April next year.  I knew these guys were currently living on the Gold Coast.  So I thought I would get in touch with them to see if they wanted to do a little ‘engagement’ shoot on the beach one evening whilst I was recently up there to photograph a wedding.
Here’s how it panned out … (more of our story below the images)

Before any portrait shoot with a couple, I love to catch up over a coffee or drink before we start the session.  It’s a great way just to relax, and find out even more about each other before I start pointing the camera at them.

During the afternoon, we realised that the 3 of us, had so much in common.  With a love of the same obscure bands (Deaf Havana for one) and anything American – the travel, the food, the craft beer.  Instead of just ending the portrait session at that, it then seemed only appropriate to go out for dinner together – to an American restaurant,  get drunk on ultra hoppy IPA’s & talk long into the night.

It’s so damn cool that as a part of this ‘job’, that I can meet so many couples who then end up becoming lifelong friends.  Emma & Samuel, I can’t wait to see you guys on your wedding day next year.
